Your testimony is a story of forgiveness, love and redemption so don’t think you have nothing to share with other people. Search deep down inside of you and reflect on what God did for you, what prayers He answered and how He blessed you. You may go through a tough time at the moment but remember that joy always comes. Be assured that the Lord is with you. Look at what David sang in Psalm 23:4: Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff comfort me. Let this be your declaration. Repeat after me: I fear no evil for you are with me; your rod and your staff comfort me.
God’s will is for you to be blessed, healed and have all your needs met. His Will is revealed in His Word. He also promised to give you the desires of your heart if you delight in Him. So delight in Him because He is good. Meditate on His goodness. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth forever – says in Psalms 136:1. Take a moment and remember what God did for you. Remember how you got born again, remember the day when you said yes to Him. How did your life change after that?
My Story
Before Jesus, I used to be selfish and proud and didn’t know how to love other people. It was all about me. I was brought up in an Orthodox family and prayed the Lord’s Prayer as a poem every day without really understanding the meaning of the words I was saying and without knowing God as my Father. Everything changed after the Lord chased after me and I finally gave my life to Him after a couple of years of fellowship with a dear spirit-filled Christian who prayed for me to get saved from the moment I met her.
I remember like it happened yesterday how the words spoken from the pulpit penetrated my spirit when he said that Jesus wants to be my friend. I said yes to Him at that moment. Two weeks later I received the baptism of the Holy Spirit and soon after that, I got baptized in water. My baptism of the Holy Spirit was powerful – when my friend prayed for me, I felt how something came out of my belly and peace came upon me. I also felt my hands being raised up to worship Jesus – this is something I didn’t understand why people do this. It was glorious, amazing and strange at the same time. I left her home feeling drunk in the spirit; literally. I struggled to walk straight. This was the beginning of my walk with Jesus and my first testimony of Him. The next day I felt love for people and felt the desire to pray for the sick even though I didn’t know how to pray. I was also too shy to ask random people to pray for them. Then words of knowledge for healing started to come when I didn’t know what they were… When I learned what to do with them and I finally took the courage to pray for people, I’ve seen Jesus doing many healings and miracles.
I have many testimonies and I am sure you have too.
God can use anyone; even a person who recently got born again. I remember once I was in church and felt my ears pop. I went to my pastor and he called everyone who had ear problems to come to the front for prayer. A few days later a lady told me that her daughter was instantly healed during that service when she heard the word of knowledge without anyone praying for her directly. Praise the Lord for His amazing grace and love.
Another testimony I share often is how God speaks to me, which I think will encourage some of you as well. He speaks through the Word, but He speaks through the Holy Spirit too. A few months after I got born again, when I left a prayer meeting, I heard the word “I have chosen you”. It was so audible to me that I looked around to see who spoke to me but there was no one. Later I found out about this verse in John 15:16 in KJV: Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. Many months later, at a time I was praying to be admitted for a job I really liked, I asked God why I had the feeling that that job is not mine. Again, I heard Him clearly saying “I have better plans for you”. And he did. He gave me a better job which was the stepping stone to the job I have now which is better than anything I had so far because I know it’s what He had planned for me. “For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future” – the Lord says in Jeremiah 29:11
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight” – says in Proverbs 3:5-6.
“Love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment” – Jesus commanded us to do in Mark 12:30. Next verse says: “And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
If you love your neighbour, you show kindness, pray for him and share your testimony with him. Tell him what the Lord has done. I pray that your testimony will lead many people to Jesus.
When we share what Jesus has done, it’s as if we are calling more forth; it’s like saying, “Do it again, God”. “The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy” says in Revelations 19:10.
What Does Revelation 12:11 Mean?
Revelation 12:11 in the Amplified Bibles says more on the power of your testimony: they overcame and conquered him (the accuser, the enemy) because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, for they did not love their life and renounce their faith even when faced with death.
The “blood of the Lamb” refers to the sacrificial death of Jesus on the cross, which provided a way for us to be forgiven and reconciled to God. Through faith in Jesus, we have access to the power of His sacrifice and the ability to overcome the enemy. Plead the blood of Jesus over your family and over any situation you haven’t seen it solved yet.
The second part of the verse, “and by the word of their testimony,” speaks to the importance of sharing our faith with others. We are called to be witnesses to the truth of the Gospel, even in the face of opposition and persecution. Don’t be ashamed to share your story with other people.
If you are willing to tell others about what God did in your life, I am sure He would give you more opportunities to do this. Pray, ask the Lord to give you opportunities to share your testimony with others. He can send you the right people at the right time in your path.
Victory Belongs to Us
I was loved by my parents, so I don’t have a story of rejection. I’ve always been a positive person and never struggled with depression. I thank God for this. He guarded my heart. But satan found a way to creep in as a snake attacking my health. My mum has many medical problems so satan used that against me saying that if my mum has problems, I will have them too. He tells this to everyone all the time – it runs in the family, it’s in the bloodline and so on. Did you have these thoughts going through your mind? They are all lies and satan is a liar as John 8:44 says – he is a liar and the father of lies.
Jesus conquered the grave and gave us victory over sin and death and other any sickness or attack from the enemy. When I read in Isaiah 53:5 that Jesus was wounded for our transgressions, He was crushed for our wickedness; The punishment [required] for our well-being fell on Him, And by His stripes (wounds) we are healed I believed I am supposed to be healed and live healthy. At that time I was on medication for hyperthyroidism and the surgent wanted my thyroid either removed or destroyed with iodine radiation. I declined both options because I believed that by the stripes of Jesus I am healed. I commanded all symptoms to leave my body in the name of Jesus and gave thanks to God daily that He healed me. It wasn’t easy because the symptoms were there but I believed that by Jesus’ stripe I have been healed and if I have been healed I am healthy. Two months later I was taken off any medications because my thyroid functioned normal. Now 5 years later I thank God I am healthy. Attacks come but now I know how to respond to them. The same happened with my gallbladder and thank God He healed that too. All attacks to my health go away quickly. Praise God. I learned that I can take authority in the name of Jesus and command whatever is wrong to leave my body in the name of Jesus. The name of Jesus is powerful. I prefer to deny my own symptoms and put the Word of God first. I know my testimony of healing always brings hope to people that need a boost of faith to believe God for their healing too. The Word of God is the Truth; not a medical report. I know this challenges many believers because they put the symptoms and God’s report higher than what the Bible says.
This is one of many testimonies of healings I have, and I am sure you have your testimonies too. If you don’t journal, I recommend you do so. Write down what God does and what He says to you. It will help you stay focused on His goodness as you reflect on the things He did. Don’t let unbelief open the door to the enemy. Just because you don’t see the expected result in the natural, it doesn’t mean your prayer hasn’t been answered. Walk by faith and not by sight as Paul said in 2 Corinthians 5:7.
A couple of weeks ago my daughter and I prayed for a couple of verrucae she had on her hands to disappear in the name of Jesus. We are a household of faith and know that Mark 11:22-24 and John 14:13 are true so didn’t doubt that what we prayed will come to pass. Last week while she was watching a film she noticed the verrucae disappeared in both places and she came to us testifying what the Lord did.
Share Your Testimony
No testimony is too little. Did you receive healing when you prayed? Did God keep you safe in a dangerous situation? Did he provide for you? Did he give you favour with your job or business? All these are your testimonies, and you should be happy to share them with other people, believers and non-believers. Many reject Jesus when you share the gospel with them straight away but they will listen to your story. It’s in human nature to be curious and listen to stories; testimonies make no difference. Storytelling uses worlds to create an experience in the listener’s imagination. It can impact human emotions and can also lead people to accept what they hear and take action.
The apostles shared their testimonies as well. They testified of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. They’ve been there with Him and saw Him alive and they told others about Him. Jesus also told many people He healed to go and tell others.
Let’s look at what the Bible says about this.
Acts 4:33 says: And with great power the apostles were giving their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all.
Notice this: Great grace was upon them all because they testified about Jesus.
Luke 8:39 says: “Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you.” And he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city how much Jesus had done for him.
You all know the story about the Samaritan woman at the well. After she realised that Jesus was Messiah, “she went back to the town and said to the people, “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?” They came out of the town and made their way toward him” (John 4:28-30)
The story continues from verse 39 up to 41: Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.” So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days. And because of his words many more became believers.
The same encouragement to share your testimony is in the Old Testament as well. Here are two examples from Psalms.
· Psalm 9:11 – Sing praises to the Lord, who sits enthroned in Zion! Tell among the peoples his deeds!
· Psalm 9:1 – To the choirmaster: according to Muth-labben. A Psalm of David. I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds.
I know it’s not easy to talk to people about Jesus and some people find it easier than others. After I got born again I couldn’t open my mouth to pray out loud. I joined a couple of home groups and at first I was only praying in my mind. When I started praying for people I found it hard to be rejected until one day when the Holy Spirit told me that there is nothing to feel offended or rejected about because people don’t reject me; they reject Jesus. He also told me to talk to other people about Him, especially when He leads me to the people that are open to hear because my words can save their life. Since then, I do my best to say yes to Jesus. I know I could do more but I thank Him He is patient with me and has grace whenever I miss His leading.
Paul said in Romans 1:16 – For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
We as born-again believers should behave in the same way. Do not be ashamed to share the gospel and how your life changed after you chose to follow Jesus.
“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behaviour in Christ may be ashamed of their slander”. (1 Peter 3:15-16)
Be blessed and be a blessing to others wherever you go.
